But the fact that playing as a female is optional means that players aren't forced into confronting a female lead in a relationship or expressing any sexuality. At best, you can hope for a game where you can choose either male or female where both genders are catered to with romances (BioWare titles, Assassin's Creed, Cyberpunk). You can count on your hand the amount in recent years. But I've noticed that rarer even still is a sole female lead whose allowed to have any romantic relationship.
